Affirmations, Mantras and Prayers

Some people call them affirmations. Some people call them intention statements. Louise Hay calls them “new thought patterns.” Whatever you choose to call them, they are the most effective way to change your limiting beliefs by replacing them, consciously or unconsciously, with healthy, productive and beneficial beliefs. They are also particularly effective for changing thoughts and feelings in the moment.

Many of us were programmed with or inherited other people’s beliefs, and many are just opinions. First of all, opinions are not facts and second, these beliefs may be limiting, unhealthy or just plain wrong! (The earth is not flat!)

Affirmations, repeated regularly, create new neural pathways in your brain and reprogram your thinking.

And you don’t even have to believe them for this to happen. You can indoctrinate yourself with powerful, healthy beliefs, just as children or cult members are indoctrinated with false, unhealthy beliefs. Anything repeated enough times becomes ‘truth,’ ‘fact,’ or belief.

The best affirmations, mantras and prayers are the ones that ‘speak’ to your soul: the ones that, when said aloud, cause a profound sense of peace to surround and fill you. That sense of being filled is your vibrational body connecting with the universe.

If you can’t find ones that achieve this, create your own.

Affirmations, mantras and prayers are effective, productive and healthy coping strategies for decreasing stress, frustration, anger, anxiety/worry, fear, and doubt. I count them among what I call Life Maximizing Strategies. They:

  • Take you away from the current painful emotion(s) and can give you a new perspective on the situation – one that provides security, calm, ease, and peace, from which you can now respond to the situation in a more evolved way.
  • Return your vibrational frequency to a healthier level.
  • Can become the new programming or mental loop guiding your thoughts and responses, when used regularly.
  • Eliminate the emotions that harm your physical body.

In the same way saying affirmations, mantras and prayers work for you, praying for others is literally sending them energetic blessings. You are sending positive, high frequency vibrational energy toward them and into them, affecting their vibrational and physical health.

Choose peace!
