Must Have Reference Books #2: Eastern Body, Western Mind by Anodea Judith

I’ve already spoken a lot about the importance of listening to your bodies’ messages. Interpretation of the messages isn’t always easy though. I already recommended Louise Hay’s Heal Your Body which provides the affirmations that will help clear the mental and emotional issues that cause the physical manifestation (the message).

But that only clears the issues temporarily, unless worked on.

All emotional issues must be resolved. All negative and limiting mental patterns must be changed. So, there is no substitute for understanding how your body really works and learning the language of your body. With this wisdom your body becomes your guide to a healthy, productive and fulfilling life.

Eastern Body, Western Mind: Psychology and the Chakra System As a Path to the Self by Anodea Judith is a comprehensive guide to your chakras and how they relate to psychology. It’s pretty much the textbook for learning the language of your body. Knowing the language, you will be able to interpret its’ messages yourself.

(If you aren’t on board with chakras yet, email me and I will send you instructions on how to check your chakras and prove their existence.)

What blocks a chakra? Childhood traumas, cultural conditioning, limiting belief systems, restrictive or exhausting habits, physical and emotional injuries, or even just lack of attention all contribute to chakra blockages.

Eastern Body, Western Mind will:

  • Teach you all about your chakras and about which physiological systems, organs and conditions are associated with each.
  • Help you discover your negative and limiting mental patterns and unresolved emotional wounds.
  • The issues that are creating weak energy, blocks, and stagnations and how to remove them.
  • Explain how specific traumas and abuses affect our chakras and therefore, our physical bodies.

And most importantly, it provides methods for restoring healthy function to each chakra. But Ms. Judith shows there are many possible paths to healing.

Imbalances can be approached verbally through discussion, physically through work with the body and movement, spiritually through meditation, emotionally through exploration of feelings, visually through images, aurally through sounds, and actualize through outer-world tasks that strengthen certain areas of our lives.

Beyond healing, this book will teach you how to keep your energies balanced and your chakras functioning properly which will create optimal physical health.

With easy to use charts and an “At a Glance” page for each chakra that includes affirmations, I have multiple bookmarks stuffed in this book.  Ms. Judith taught me and healed me by showing me how to heal myself.  I’m sure she can do the same for you.

May you perceive and receive all your blessings.

With Much Love,

Rev. Michele
